This is my detox experience for those interested in making healthy lifestyle changes.
I woke up with the sun today feeling more rested than usual. It is the fifth day of the detox and I have a noticeable increase in energy and motivation to get things done! You have to know that this is the fifth time I’ve done this detox in the past 2 years. Each time became easier than the previous detox. I took something from each detox into my lifestyle even after the detox was over. I have made baby steps along the way which, overall have turned out to be a significant change in my lifestyle over the past 2 years.
The first two times I detoxed, I did the 21 day vegan detox diet, which was a completely vegan, with no caffeine, alcohol, sugar, or dairy. After the first detox was over, I continued to incorporate on a daily basis the green protein shake in my regular diet. After the second detox, I realized the importance of having a daily salad full of leafy greens with olive oil dressing and continued incorporating this in my diet as well. I have made some changes to my detox since the first two, now I incorporate fish, I have extended it to 28 days, and I cut out all gluten (breads and pasta). Now, I don’t have the urge to put honey on everything, in fact I don’t crave it anymore!
It was the third detox when I started blending my fruits and vegetables. After the third detox was over, I continued having a daily green shake. During the fourth detox, I started to eat more organic, whole foods. I learned how to be more careful at the grocery store because GMO’s (genetically modified foods) are in most of the foods these days (and they are not labelled!). Since then, I only look for the words “Certified Organic” or “USDA Organic” at the store.
Taking these baby steps from 2 years ago have made my detox experience incredibly easier and less painful. I used to get monster headaches and crave sweets, but this time I only felt lethargic the first 3 1/2 days. Right now I have more clarity and energy than I’ve had in the last few months. It’s pretty cool having a feeling of excitement for no particular reason, just excitement for life as a whole!
